How To Paint Pigs

Mr. Harry Barr of Berloga, Marlow Bottom, Marlow, an artist who specialises in watercolour painting, and who last year became the first British artist to stage an exhibition in Moscow, is currently personally appearing at an exhibition at the Fermoy art gallery, King's Lynn, Norfolk

Among his 80 works in this one-man show are paintings which he was commissioned to paint by the Crown Estate Office.

The settings are appropriate to the locality in which his exhibition takes place for they depict areas of land reclaimed on the Queen's estate at Wolferton.

Her Majesty has reclaimed about 900 acres of the Wash which will ultimately be used for farming and, no doubt, added to the 150 acres at Sandringham.

Success has come late in life to the 70-years-old former teacher. He has been interviewed on both television and radio since the exhibition opened.

One of his favourite subjects, which has been well appreciated in the agricultural areas round Norfolk, is pigs

"To paint pigs, you have to climb into the sty and smell like one," he says.
